A standard grass front yard works fine - until it doesn't. The watering, the mowing, the patchy spots that never fill in. A lot of homeowners in Perry reach a point where they just want something that looks great without demanding so much from them every week. That's exactly where this project started.
Here's what we were working with - a traditional grass lawn that covered the entire front yard. It was functional, but it needed constant attention and used a lot of water to stay looking decent. The homeowners wanted something cleaner, lower maintenance, and more in line with how Utah yards are trending. So we drew up a full residential landscape design and got to work.
We pulled the lawn and replaced it with a layered mix of materials - dark wood mulch beds for planting areas, river rock along the parkway strip, and a wide decomposed granite path running from the driveway to the front door. Set into that path, you've got natural flagstone steppers that give it a real finished, intentional look. The whole layout has a curved, organic feel to it that keeps it from looking stiff or commercial. Boulders are placed throughout to anchor the design and add dimension. Young trees are staked and planted in the mulch beds, giving the yard something to grow into over the next few seasons.
The decorative hardscaping here does a lot of the heavy lifting. It keeps things looking polished year-round without relying on plants that need constant care. The mulch beds near the house foundation are planted with low-water perennials and ornamental grasses that will spread over time and fill in those areas naturally. Less water. Less work. Better curb appeal - all three at once.
We handle everything from the initial design through final install, so the homeowners didn't have to coordinate multiple contractors or figure out material sourcing on their own. That full-service approach is something we've found makes a real difference for people who just want the end result without the headache of managing the process themselves.
